Sendero Tranquilo” is a 200-acre private reserve nestled on the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and Guacima River. This is a personalized guided tour along tranquil little-used paths through virgin forest.  Most animals and birds in the rainforest are shy and secretive by nature, but your guide will discover the sings of their passing.

What to bring: Light clothes, insect repellent, binoculars, hiking shoes and camera.

Tour departs early morning from your hotel.  You will find the way to the home of one of the most astonishing active volcanoes. 

The biodiversity of this park creates one of the most important attractions in the area. This tour will not only give you the opportunity to appreciate the geothermal wonders, but it will also allow you to experience the different types of vegetation of the area. 

The Rincon de la Vieja has two craters, one active crater with a hot-water lake at the bottom, and another dormant crater with a cold-water covered with vegetation. The two and a half hour hike will show us a huge diversity of birds, millenary trees, and many mammals.

This private reserve is dedicated to protect the cloud forest.  It offers four different trails (from 1.4 Km to 4.5 Km) and three look out towers from where you will see beautiful landscapes including the northern lowlands and the impressive Arenal Volcano. 

Due to its incredible flora and fauna, this private reserve is considered one of the main attractions of the area.

Our naturalist guide will pick you up at your hotel early in the morning to start your journey of 1½ hour to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui passing through one of the most exuberant National Parks in Costa Rica.

Once in Puerto Viejo, you will board a boat to discover the richness of Costa Rica nature along the Sarapiqui River.  Then you will arrive to a private reserve where you will have the choice of reaching the Canopy starting point by horseback riding or hiking. 

The Canopy starts with an explanation of the basic commands needed to make this experience an enjoyable and safe one. 

This is an adventure that lets you roam around the treetops leaping from platform to platform, in a special system of steel cables using professional climbing gear.

On the way to the river, you'll pass by the majestic La Paz Waterfall and rolling verdant fields of coffee, papayas and ferns.

Upon arrival to Río Sarapiquí, your friendly and professional guides will outfit you with lifejackets, helmets and paddles and give you a safety chat for the river. You'll have fun going through exciting rapids interspersed with tranquil pools, and taking in the stunning tropical forest scenery.

Free flowing, it has its origins in clear mountain streams that tumble down through thick rainforest, finally joining together in the crystal waters of the beautiful Sarapiquí River. During the trip, you'll stop to enjoy a picnic lunch and swimming.

Go up with the Sky Tram at our slow pace so you can enjoy the views, observe the change of vegetation as the altitude changes & take some photos during the ride. You will be accompanied by our bilingual guide and you can ask him at anytime to make some stops to observe a particular scene, animal or bird.

 

There is a spacious observation deck at the top with chairs and you can spend as much time as you like observing the volcano, Lake Arenal & surrounding mountains & rainforests before coming down with our 2 options.

 

Ride down with the Sky Tram, or choose the exciting Sky Trek option: a Canopy Tour with high quality cables running from mountain to mountain zigzagging back to the base.
